Aprilia Shiver Mini Review

Right off the bat, lets discuss the cons:

  • Gear indication show a "-" when clutch is pulled in

  • Seat Height

  • Gear shift could be better

  • Very limited after market support

Well to be completely honest, i already knew about all the above factors but they hit me harder once i actually bought the bike. I can probably live with all of them and love the bike regardless. However, the point i really want to pick on is the gear indicator. This value is actually calculated by the computer so it makes sense that it cant calculate anything once the clutch is in, but seriously that when i need to remember the gear position the most. If you are serious about added all kinds farkles, gadgetry and upgrades to your bike then be aware that everything related to a Shiver costs about twice as much!

Now for the pros:

  • Looks amazing!

  • What a looker!

  • Gorgeous!

  • Could look at it all day!

  • Piece of art!

It also doesnt hurt that:

  • it handles well. the wide handle bars provide excellent leverage

  • the power modes are seriously useful (choking the power down to approx 75bhp really helps in the rain)

  • great for two up riding (a lot more than a Monster 696)

I really dig the fact that its not thatttt common as lets say .. a Monster.... :D

Technically, for my purpose this (or most naked bikes) are probably not the best buy. But i was quite eager to do a project on the bike and convert it into a light-tourer. I will be adding a wind screen and luggage. Looking out project reports soon!
